Trump has managed to assemble quite the impressive nightmare team, but you'd be hard pressed to find someone with a trifecta of cruelty, corruption and incompetence comparable to Kash Patel.

14.11.2025 19:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The low number of jobs supported is seen as a feature, not a bug.
For every 100 new jobs at a data center, AI companies mean to erase 100,000 existing jobs from the wider economy.
AI companies advertise themselves to local governments by boasting about the jobs they'll create, and to their customers by boasting about the jobs they'll make redundant.
14.11.2025 19:30 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0There's no way that burying legit info under a ton of slop is even all that profitable. Page views are worth next to nothing.
But hey, it also *costs* nothing, at least to the one doing it.
"following all kinds of stars" is a funny turn of the phrase.
I guess in Texas you're only allowed to follow a lone star.
Market cap is such a weird metric, seemingly divorced from things like assets and revenue.
There are billionaires whose companies have never turned a profit. I'm no economist, but I don't think this can be sustainable.
Borders are fake.
For almost all of human history, border enforcement was not a thing and people were free to move in and out of countries. #RETVRN
Also, old person yaoi/yuri is cute. When it's depicted respectfully, of course.
14.11.2025 16:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's depressing that the politics of disgust (not moral disgust, just sensory disgust) works so well even among progressives.
14.11.2025 16:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I hate that AI has made me approach cute animal videos with an air of suspicion. I resent having to harden my heart to the possibility of an unlikely friendship between a very large dog and a very small one
14.11.2025 14:01 β π 4969 π 887 π¬ 64 π 46I know this is true, but it still beggars belief. Like how some slaveowners were raping their slaves while being married and raising daughters.
They apparently didn't even see it as adultery - which, mind, would be the *least* of their crimes.
CSA can happen anywhere, but I think puritanism, deference to leaders and elders, wagon-circling, and putting reputation and "honor" above actual moral principles, are factors that create a uniquely fertile ground for it to fester for *decades* - unaddressed and even unspoken of.
12.11.2025 17:25 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1Agreed. This story took so long to unfold (against a backdrop of Trump already being a known sex pest) that most people will just shrug and move on.
Boiling frog situation, but for having a pedo president. πΈ
At the time, I heard it described as the equivalent of a kid who plays "gun" in a game of rock-paper-scissors.

I'm not saying the left can't take over the Dems, but it'll be an uphill battle every step of the way.

Yeah, those damn Blue Helmets have overstayed their welcome in Grafton, NH. Time to kick them out.

I suspect there are ~stories~ about his on- and off-set behavior that aren't widely known yet.

07.11.2025 14:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Eh, it depends. An "almost won" in Texas or Georgia is different from an "almost won" in Pennsylvania or Virginia.
But Pete has always struck me as very fake. The product of focus groups and think tanks.
Wait, what? Buttigieg said that?
What is he nowadays, anyway? Is he still a figure of any importance in the party?
Yeah, I hear the same about pilots, too. If you buy a private jet, you'll be hiring your pilot from the dregs of the talent pool.

05.11.2025 16:10 β π 318 π 36 π¬ 8 π 0I think they work backwards from the intended genre (kids' movie with musical numbers) and then find a plot that fits.
Having the characters be singers is just an organic (if obvious) way to integrate musical numbers to a movie.
Everything I hear about this movie makes me regret not seeing it at my neighborhood theater it came out.
