03.12.2025 13:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Experimental results showing that transaction-based metrics are negatively correlated with profitability-based metrics in our experiments, and the reasons why: 1. Customers are not necessarily good investors. 2. Customer skill varies over time. 3. Customer strategy might change performance of models.
Through our theoretical and empirical analysis, we find that customer transactions are a problematic source of data for evaluation on their own, and they might lead customers to lose money if they are not good investors. ๐งต(4/5)

2. Profitability-based evaluation estimates if customers would earn money by following the recommendations. Example metric: ROI ๐งต(3/5)
Introduction figure to financial asset recommendation.
In this paper, we focus on the problem of financial asset recommendation (FAR), i.e., identifying stocks, bonds or mutual funds on which a customer might invest. In particular, we compare two of the most common ways of evaluating models for this task ๐งต(2/5)
