A Wake Forest pitching lab alum, love to see it! The Royals continue to show a commitment to the best pitching player development.
24.11.2025 23:14 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The youths are wising up.
Donβt watch your news. Read your news.
Yes, Garcia is definitely the best defender of the bunch. And though he's not young, he's younger than Tauchman and Yas.
Oddly, though, Garcia has no discernible platoon advantage. He's actually been a bit worse in his career against lefties than righties.
The problem is theyβd have to pay Garcia like a semi-big name. They may be able to get both Tauchman AND Mike Yastrzemski for the price of Garcia.
23.11.2025 17:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What I thoroughly do not understand. #Royals fans are clamoring for the Royals to make a play for Adolis Garcia.
Mike Tauchman was non-tendered, too, and he was a 115 wRC+ hitter last year.
Tauchman's going to cost $3M; Garcia at least $10M.
Where's the Tauchman love?
Same. Baltimore finished 26th in team ERA last season. Rodriguez was their best starter in 2024 but missed all of β25 with injury. Baltimore has no trouble scoring runs and lots of young hitting talent.
The only logical explanation is that Baltimore doesnβt think Rodriguez can be what he was.
I don't think the #Royals could ask for more than they're getting from Daniel Vazquez and Carson Roccaforte down in the Arizona Fall League.
Vazquez: 22 G, 79 AB, .329/.459/.468
Roccafore: 18 G, 68 AB, .279/.393/.485
Both look like legit hitting prospects which the system desperately needs.
The #Royals have found their second assistant hitting coach. Apparently, Thames is going to be the old school to Dawsonβs new school.
I prefer an all new school approach personally.

And they deserve that benefit. Turning a 100-loss team into a playoff contender should earn them plenty of good will.
But I think seeing how they did it also lets us know that Zumwalt probably won't have much more rope. That is to say, I don't think JJ is a "All my guys are sacred" kinda guy.
And of course the biggest difference is JJ was never the top dog of his domain. So, the decisions didn't ultimately rest with him. Zumwalt is. The results fall on his shoulders. He has an excuse with the staffing thing, and apparently that's enough for the Royals. We'll see if that changes anything.
06.10.2025 18:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Excellent point. And Mike wasn't a fan of the Piccolo thing for that reason, as well (and looks wrong on that).
I'm fine with half-assing stuff, but I'm also of the mind that hitting coaches are hired to be fired. Zumwalt hasn't shown any particular brilliance to indicate he's not replaceable.
Salvy knocks in his 100th RBI on the year.
Heβs still got it.

Maybe Wachaβs tryna wear them out running the bases to give the Royals a better chance in games 2 and 3.
17.09.2025 00:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well, thatβs not how they wanted the first three hitters to go.
16.09.2025 23:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The nail for a team that was never really good enough to be in the playoffs.

You pinch run Tolbert and Isbel bunts at the first pitch, swings at the second pitch, and bunts at the third pitch foul.
Just a terrible, terrible plate appearance.
Let Tolbert steal. Don't bunt at balls over your head.
This isn't complicated.
Day-um! That Kolek changeup is doing work in the first.
11.09.2025 23:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good PA from Cags until that last pitch. Couldnβt lay off a 92 MPH fastball that was ball four.
11.09.2025 23:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yee yee! The Pasquatch goes yard to stake the Royals a 2 run lead!
11.09.2025 23:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't think that's it. I think moves he made last night show his sense of urgency. I just think he mistakenly thinks they have a better chance to win with Maile behind the plate than Jensen.
I disagree with that.
I would MUCH rather Jensen be starting at catcher.
Really makes no sense that he isn't.
Hereβs the story itβs from: www.mlb.com/news/jac-cag...
11.09.2025 16:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is a great way of putting it from Matt Quatraro. Having a good approach is in part understanding how pitchers want to get you out.
And I love that he refers to βperceivedβ struggles rather than βstrugglesβ bc it indicates that Cags was letting the results get to him.
