tuesday might be a little light, but we'll have to see!
02.11.2025 08:30 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0starting strong with Dispatch, but then, also, I've got thoughts about EXP systems I wanna explore. I might even bring out the old mood writing board
26.10.2025 14:46 โ ๐ 16 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0the only thing that makes milestones suck is cause the milestones are arbitrary/vague and in the hands of the gm for whenever they feel like it ; w ;
this is why i like more of these active participation rpgs
so call of cthulhu and troubleshooters? both are fantastic btw
and yeah. per mission is just recontextualized milestone
milestones were ultimately a "fix" for that but when the answer to an abuse of a game system (leveling) is take it away and attach it to arbitrary checkpoints, then you've actively taken away a gaming element.
it made your game smoother cause theres no ledge to grip ontoโbut it didnt make it better
part of trpgs are the gaming elements of it and tbh, leveling up is a mechanic as well.. though i feel most folks are so dnd pilled that, prior to milestones, the only way ppl knew how to engage in it was just murder hobo kill more ppl for exp.
25.10.2025 20:40 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0imagine after leveling you start the next session with 3xp/10. you know you'll get 5 but if you roleplay hard enough or push the story along you might hit a milestone for like +2. suddenly thats 2 sessions you leveled in a row
it encourages and actively rewards the players for engaging in the game!
lets look at consistent + bonus exp, though i think base&bonus (or b&b) works better.
in fabula you need 10xp to level but gain 5xp/sesh + bonus exp for roleplaying, achieving milestones, spending fabula points, etc. meaning even though on average youll gain 1 lvl per 2 games, you could luck out!
been thinking about experience systems again
classic granular exp feels outdated. i also think milestone exp/at will leveling is kinda lazy.
there are 3 exp systems i look at nowadays:
- consistent exp + bonus (fabula)
- exp as growth currency (spend xp to buy stuff)
- x-sesh to level
though it could also be the seasonal affective depressionnnn
its been raining a lot lately xD
i feel im in that self-destructive phase of my yearly emotional cycle where i want to leave a buncha communities and hobbies and reddits in order to regain some kinda control over my life
when i was a kid i conflated it with suicidal ideation but now i know it's just how i process being in a rut
Flash Cut [1ap]
- Can only be used while in E.I. Stance. You may teleport up to 6sq and attack. You may activate this even when it is not your turn.
Ever Instant Stance [0ap]
- You enter "Ever Instant" or E.I. stance and your next attack will always crit. While in this stance, you also gain [bonus] to dodging/ac/something defensive. You lose this stance upon attacking.
HEY FOLKS I have a hankering to turn a buncha my digimon into more
uh
appealing forms. ALSO going to cover savage worlds again! consider it a refresher
so i cant project my voice a lot in public, so i resort to text and and gestures a lot and i think i get mistaken as deaf a lot
its kinda wild the kinda kid gloves ppl wear when interacting with me when they think im deaf
the heart of a library is rooted in being both a public institution + a vehicle for Intellectual Freedom.
everyone has a right to information and a right to research and a right to learn.
patron approached the desk today. said he was disappointed how the library allows so many homeless ppl with mental disturbances in the library. he then suggested we have a detention area for them
and i said "that would go against everything a library stood for and will NEVER happen"
disgusting.
thank you @cavegirl.bsky.social
17.10.2025 07:50 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0diary entry of someone on adhd meds:
i feel like how i used to feel. i feel engaged with topics. i feel as smart as i used to. im quick to respond, do research, speak my opinions, and i even feel wittier than i used to. i can even write in paragraphs again.
i dont know if i want this though.
hi folks!
it's been nearly 2 months since my surgery, but i'm finally ready to try streaming again.
thank you very much for patiently waiting.
orz
note: each stream has a 2hour cap for now as i ease back into it
i swear to god with each episode of ranma that comes out i get a random flood of traffic on archive of our own
ppl really wanna see ranma and ryoga going at it huh??
i think that'd be a totally great way to use it!
said [bonus] doesn't have to be numerical, but even plays like that would work. or maybe an enemy says 'don't slip up!' and later on you use that to disarm someone and say the same line 'dont slip up there!'
etc etc
i dont know if I'm crazy but most ttrpg social media circles are just ads for peoples projects.
and like, it's great! get that bag! but i definitely do miss mechanic discourse. especially when it's in an optional involvement manner like bsky/twitter
discords tend to be hit or miss
ive been thinking of a new social mechanic for trpgs
"I'll hold you to that"
- when roleplaying, a player can spend [meta currency] to capture a quote from conversation. later on, they can expend this quote to gain [bonus] to a roll
the idea is to give players access to foreshadowing as bonuses
i do like the dichotomy of how i treat twitter and bluesky. on twitter i retweet spam to the point you have no idea what im saying or why im saying things between the wall of content
here i just post schedules and verbalize to the ether. it's kinda soothing
on my break at the library right? guy approaches me.
"hey you work here right? can you help me find something?"
"nnnope definitely not"
"no im pretty sure"
"dunno what you're talking about"
"no you were the one playing umamusume at the desk"
"...okay fine what are you looking for'
THATS HOW I GOT INTO THIS MESS
05.10.2025 17:49 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0i have something i call "perpetually suspicious disorder" where i cant help but do/say things in a sus manner
i was telling a coworker "if anyone asks im going to get a coffee at mcdonalds"
my coworker, fully aware of the shit ive done at work: "is that not what you're doing?"
like. fair orz
