It kinda just falls into a lot of traps that YA dystopia does, with a cool concept and huge stakes but instead focuses romance and teenage issues, which. I think worth reading to see if the religious trauma resonates or if you want a really gory read (I loved that part of it!)

I’d say characterization felt a bit flat and too many characters. There’s a huge focus on religious trauma, but as someone who grew up Catholic it didn’t hit for me personally and I think that’s what a lot of people like about it.
