It sucks that all my amazing artist and writer associates constantly have to beg for cash. It's nice that we can come together and support them as a community but it would be better if some sort of government body took a small portion of everyones income and basically distrubuted it universally

Anybody happen to have an ebook reader they're not using and want to offload for a decent price? I've gotten back into reading after about a decade and I gifted mine away in the decade I wasn't into it and can't afford a new one right now.

I don't like Terminator 2, over long and drags like hell. The Terminator on the other hand! Schwarzenegger's and James Cameron best movie by far.

This concludes my actual rant. I just want to add that it's disappointing that the person perpetrating these misconceptions about me knows me and knows exactly how to get in touch with me to ask what it is exactly what the course was. Instead they elected to indirectly throw shade and hysteria. 10/?

Main thing is that ignorance does not help anyone, least so the artists. If we are to keep art alive, we need to be educated about what these tools do and how they work. And yes, a major part of my course is to show people how AI images do not work as a replacement for real art. 9/?

Exactly how the synthesizer did not make the symphony orchestra go extinct and Photoshop didn't make the art of photography redundant. Both concerns that were discussed when these disruptions in their fields happened. I also understand that these are not completely compatible parallels. 8/?

I admit that I don't always hold 100% anti-AI sentiments, especially when it comes to accessibility and how it enables expression for people with impairments. I also believe that as we get familiar with the AI aesthetic, the problem corrects itself since people want real art from real people. 7/?

Let it be known that I have not, and will not, condone the use of AI generated "art" over actual art done by real artists. I would never support it and I would never pay money for It. None of us are immune to falling for scams, which is why I believe effective vigilance requires education. 6/?

Naturally a part of the course, we also spend time exploring different tools and experiment with them, because that is the best way for people to learn to recognise the style of AI generated content. There is a lot of misinformation about all this, especially targeting elder folk. 5/?

As a result of this work, I was asked to do a course that extends the media education to older focus group, especially when it comes to recognising scams, generated content and how to prevent oneself for falling a victim to AI generated media manipulation. 4/?
