Once upon a time in 2019 Trump came to my hometown. I went to where he was speaking to protest. The local democratic party officials were there leading the charge. We tried to get an Abolish Ice chant going and we're shut down by the dems there.
I have thought about that day every day of this year.

Because if you do site specific you can generally cut down on set cost and sometimes costume cost as well. It's a way of finding new audience members when your usual audience might be pinching pennies and not seeing traditional shows

I remember when Sleep No More first opened in 2011 in March. Then Great Comet opens in 2012 in it's site specific location!

Personally I think theatre companies using site specific theatre as a means to cut down on cost or when they are bracing or in the middle of low donor turnout

I can't fully explain it but I saw that the Folger was doing a new play series that takes place in restaurants and I was like "I'm in danger"

My husband and I were able to fly home from Key West, take the metro to the VRE, and then walk home from the VRE

Yes but also no media about the DMV has ever accurately depicted the wild amount of community theatre in and around DC

There's so much community theatre that they have their own version of the Tony's just for the non-professional shows. A lot of it is staffed by feds and fed adjacent fields

No dude that's why it's impressive!!!
Also they'll just be like "I'm going to teach myself how to spin wool or tap dance" but they can because they are intellectually gifted and have no impulse control! Truly the best humans

My favorite people in the world are brilliant people with #ADHD
But so often their self-esteem is so worn down from YEARS of trauma that they act like anyone can do what they do
You'll be talking to one of them and they'll just drop "Oh yeah I'm also a classically trained pianist isn't everyone?"
