Follow up thought on this bc brain rotting at work

Mega Houndoom is a perfect example of this bc the stat gains are great but it's stuck with no item and an extremely conditional ability

Compare that to Chi Yu who boasts a worse speed tier but has an item slot and an SSS tier ability 🙃

I'm getting oc ability vibes out the wazoo bc +10 attack +30 spA +15 speed on a mon with such middling stats makes no sense otherwise of some wacky hijinx ability

Even the worst megas dont troll stat distributions that badly so it's gotta be SOMETHING

Maybe Contrary + another ability

Granted megas redeemed my formerly scrimblo favs of Mawile/Altaria/Sableye etc so I'm happy to see it happen again

I love Falinks too but in a world with other crazy (non mono) fighters like Omniboosting Kommo-o/Urshifu x2 etc

Uhhh yeah thats a really hard sell without some dlc multihit ability 🥹

sadly very cut throat world of opportunity cost that only gets tougher with more megas

I'm reminded of them saying during gen 7 that z moves will let weaker mons get better and while yeah I can troll on ladder with them more

I could also use stuff like Flynium Lando-T or Electrium Kyu-B etc LMAO

also the kalos starters look so good rn bc they got min maxed out stats so any decent ability on top basically guarantees play

Pyroar looks like a sopping wet cat relative to Delphox unless the ablities are that skewed and even then...

also I just don't see Falinks doing it rn despite minmaxing

like yeah obviously some bases are so bad you need to mixmax more like M-Bee -30 SpA but it isn't an instant death sentence or anything

I'll take 20 points out the window for an S tier ability any day

Mega discourse without abilities is funny bc "wasting" points isn't a huge deal at all for many

So many of the most historically strong megas do this bc your bases and other traits and abilities matter more overall

Kanga has +20 SpA
Zard Y has +20 Att
Zard X has +21 SpA
Gardy has +20 Att

etc etc
