We do need an actual common understanding of “establishment” to describe prevailing thought, esp of leadership.

We can’t effectively communicate when “establishment” is short hand for “a prog candidate faced a primary opponent, or was held accountable for what he said, and I don’t like that”, etc.

So much weeping and gnashing of teeth over the loss when the elephant in the room is that the Press decided to be the enemy. Sure it’s not the only factor —“establishment” Dems and shitty Left commentators hurt us in different ways —but the Press/Media is the biggest obstacle to figure out.
