Sub 2 hour painting done while sitting in a voice chat with some pals. 10/10 method for getting paintings out of your system.

Harbour porpoise in a Scottish sea loch. Based on a sighting I had a couple of years ago while conducting some kayak based fieldwork!

Going over this unfinished acrylic painting with oils. It's sat for like 2.5 years gathering dust but I'm finally back at it! Oils are so much more fun

I've been attending a local art class recently as a way of getting out the house while recovering from a long term illness. I've been enjoying keeping it all offline, but I thought I'd share this as it was my second time ever with oil paints and I'm pretty happy!

Harbour porpoises cruising past an offshore wind farm. Getting the perspective right in this one was surprisingly challenging.

Have another painting with common dolphins! Can't get enough of them tbh

I havent yet! I'm tempted to do a limited print run if there's enough interest though!!

Dropping in to share a painting I've recently finished. I've been pretty unwell for a few months now but felt inspired by both being out with HWDT last year and completing my honours project on common dolphins. Hopefully I'll get back out on the sea soon!

I think it might be because the mountains aren't casting any sort of shadow or reflection? I struggle with water as well a lot, so I've no idea how you'd include them but that's what my gut says. Gorgeous lighting though!

I had an absolutely fantastic day out at the Scottish Marine Forum 2025! It was full of fascinating talks and so many wonderful people, and I even spotted some of my pins and stickers on the water bottles and bags of attendees! Thanks @strandings.bsky.social and WDC for a great day out.

Awesome to see my photo being used to advertise talks at my uni! I submitted this to a photo competition (sadly no winnings) but it's nice to see it out in the world all the same!

There's just something about hourglass dolphins being in Cephalorynchus that just feels wrong. Not for any scientific reasons. All vibes.🀣 But I'm so glad to see the duskies and white sideds being suggested in their own group!

This was one big reason I ended up leaving aviation and going into marine science. But I'm nervous I'll be dealing with this kind of sexism and discrimination again before long 😭

A reverse Google search suggests they got it from Shutterstock, and I've seen media outlets do this before. Shutterstock is just over run with AI slop and people don't seem to see it which is baffling! I don't get how you can miss that that's not a dolphin!

@haystravel.bsky.social using AI slop in their travel brochures. Please consider doing some research and using images of actual Ganges River dolphins than whatever this is!
