The reason we're here is that tens of millions of people will punch a hole in a wall if they hear someone used food stamps to buy soda but they're fine if the right-wing podcaster turned fbi director uses his taxpayer funded private jet to go party whenever he feels like it bsky.app/profile/thed...

Roses are red.

Violetes are blue.

Hey, Kristi Noem,

I’m impeaching you.

Please explain to me how rescinding public health funds to democrat-led states amidst multiple infectious disease outbreaks is "pro-life"?

Is "owning the libs" worth the direct harm and death caused by this action to these entire regions? Deadly diseases do not care if you voted red or blue 🦠☠️

The CEO of one of the biggest health insurance companies couldn’t answer my question on AI-driven denials.

Health insurance companies should not compound on our healthcare crisis by weaponizing AI to deny Americans essential care.

I'm a surgeon – and I've been shot. ICE denying Renee Good aid is inhumane. I do not know if Renee Nicole Good could have been saved; no one can say with certainty. But she should have been given every possible chance.

The One Big Beautiful Bill: A Looming Crisis for Health Equity and Emergency Medicine Author(s): Yates, Melanie; Yun, Peter

Now more than ever, physicians need to be in the conversation on the impacts that policy and politics have on our patients and crumbling healthcare system. Time to buckle up for the new year, and grateful to write this piece with my friend and colleague: escholarship.org/uc/item/2nn0...

Deaths Rose in Emergency Rooms After Hospitals Were Acquired by Private Equity Firms Staffing, salary cuts offer likely explanation for increase compared to non-private-equity hospitals

Just your friendly reminder that healthcare does not follow free market principles and people continue to die for profit in the current system.

And this is only going to get worse as uninsured rates skyrocket with the Medicaid cuts and ACA subsidies expirations

It is not lost on me that a bunch of weak old men who can't handle one bad comment against them are telling women to "suck it up" and not take the one well-studied safe medication for pain and fever in pregnancy based on non-existent evidence that it causes autism 🙃

As Americans we should be able to empathize for the person that has died, even if we vehemently disagreed with them. We also have a lot of reflecting and work to do as a country to end gun and political violence. Today I am heartbroken.

One of the greatest honors as an emergency physician is to be able to care for everyone no matter where they come from or what their beliefs are. One of the greatest heartbreaks is telling families their loved ones have died from gun violence.

HHS backtracks on pledge to disclose new vaccine advisers’ conflicts of interest RFK Jr. has pledged radical transparency, but his vaccine advisers' financial disclosures aren't public.

Actions mean more than words.

And the fact that the new COI rules are not being applied to the new hand-picked Advisory Council on Immunization Practices, speaks volumes.

Miscarriage Is Increasingly Dangerous for Women in Texas, Our Analysis Shows. Here’s How We Did It. Using seven years of hospital discharge data, we found that the number of blood transfusions during emergency room visits for first-trimester miscarriage shot up by 54% since Texas banned abortion.

Our analysis, which shows that more women nearly bled to death during miscarriage after Texas banned abortion, adds to a growing body of reporting revealing that maternal outcomes have gotten worse under bans.

Thanks to Senate Republicans, 17 million people will lose their health care.

Thanks to Senate Republicans, three million Americans, including veterans and seniors, will lose food assistance.

Thanks to Senate Republicans, families will see their energy bills go up by $400 a year.

One single GOP Senator could have stopped this abomination. Saved millions of parents from watching their child go hungry. Saved the lives destroyed when Medicaid disappears.

They will all live forever with the horror of this bill.
