Alive tour was great. Even better was seeing them DJ in a club in 97, around the time their first album came out. Properly blew my mind.

Stop Palantir taking over our public services! Our public services aren’t for a secretive profit-hungry US tech firm. Sign the petition to tell the Government to scrap all contracts with secretive US tech firm Palantir.

Palantir, a US spy-tech firm, has been given access to millions of NHS patient records.

Its founder has said the NHS should be 'ripped up'.

Join me in calling on the government to end the dangerous Palantir contract.

The fine for driving without insurance should be three times the value of what the insurance would cost, plus Β£1,000. Fining someone Β£200 is not a deterrent.

Outsourcing means you get the absolute minimum to fulfil the contract. That means that no-one gives a shit about doing a job properly or putting in the proper effort. "That's enough, it'll do" - that's the mantra of outsourcing. No wonder the county's infrastructure is crumbling.

'Peter Mandelson's Fixing of Keir Starmer’s Visit to Spytech Firm Palantir Raises Serious Questions' Palantir was represented by a lobbying firm founded by Mandelson, Iain Overton and Max Colbert report

If Mandelson is being investigated for his Epstein connections, he must also be investigated for his Thiel connections, because they ran a joint fund when Mandelson fixed Starmer's visit to Palantir

LTNs cut road casualties in half, campaigners say

LTNs cut road casualties in half, campaigners say

Either you're happy for people to be killed and injured to save you a couple of minutes on your journey, or you're not. The evidence that LTNs and 20mph zones save lives is overwhelming.

Inspired by @freedomtodoubt.bsky.social’s brilliant post, I wanted to share my own experience of learning about the dangers of wood smoke.

It started a few years ago with a message on our street WhatsApp.

Photo shows 5 Greenlandic women in their national dress with beaded yokes. In the late 1920s Norway sought to possess East Greenland. Norwegian knitting designer Annichen Sibbern Bøhn designed a sweater which mimicked the Greenlandic beaded yoke. And that's how yoked sweaters became a thing. 🧡

The UK was better off in the EU and Europe was better off with the UK in it.

All of this Trump driven chaos underlines that and you can practically hear Putin rubbing his hands in Moscow.

WE have deliberately weakened ourselves, our security and our region for absolutely no good purpose at all.

The amount of effort it would take to decouple from US companies. Services you can find alternatives, but all of our computers and phones rely on them for updates. The one I'm most worried about now is Action Network because I can imagine a hostile government shutting that down.

Opinion: E-Bikes Are An Economic Boost That Cities Must Seize - Streetsblog New York City E-bikes and scooters are reshaping local retail markets by expanding who can reach neighborhood businesses with frequency, ease, and convenience.

Great piece on the economic case for e-bike infrastructure.

Imagine you live in the most dense city in the country, with great eats/shops/bars in your hood but ALSO great stuff in the next one over. E-bikes expand the radius of what's easily available to you.

I for one am absolutely ASTONISHED that privatising our public services in order to make shareholders rich didn't result in better, cheaper, more efficient public services.

280 million e-bikes are slashing oil demand far more than electric vehicles E-bikes and scooters displace 4x as much demand for oil as all of the EVs in the world.

"E-bikes and scooters displace 4x as much demand for oil as all of the EVs in the world"

And still no plans or incentives from our federal and provincial governments to help people choose bikes instead of cars. Quite the opposite, actually.
