it's one of my faves, and i think Golden's early writing is nothing like her current books. however if you missed the Anduin short story, The Calling, by her, i highly recommend that too. def a return to form of her original writing; sad she was laid off shortly after it was published.

shadows of the horde is a uniquely good wow book, and i stand by the original WC (not WoW) novels being great. Lord of the Clans and Arthas, both early Golden works, hold up on their own as standalone (rather than "video game") novels imo, and The Last Guardian by Jeff Grubb was formative for me.
