Skill regression has been one of hardest experiences of recent years. I really hope there’s a way around. I’m fine setting up accommodations and systems for myself but it’s hard to translate to people who don’t understand or care.

I have RSD and I’m learning how to cope. It’s strange as I’d only learned about it after dx and in therapy. Thought I’d share as I’m still figuring things out.

It’s one of the contradictions for being autistic. So much is expected of you and yet you’re punished.

All sorts, especially when you’re masking heavily. From “being great with customers”, having creative ideas, setting up great plans, knowing/being passionate about subject ABC, to “thinking logically” and so on. All praised when needed, and then later admonished and punished if not done correctly.

The positive traits that are praised are the same traits that get punished.

Do you find that? It’s a form of shame, especially if you’re autistic in the world.

If I’m not speaking with customers I spend the majority of my days totally alone. I’m embracing this quietude day by day and it’s surprisingly nice. I’m unable to learn new things or apply myself in the way I would like but I’m able to think of ways to fix potholes in my creative work 🌻

But, I cannot look at people I don’t like. I almost cower or walk right by, depending on the memory I have of them being negative.

I have issues with eye contact, it’s an aspect of my neurotype. One I’ve been shamed for but I literally cannot help it - it’s my physical indication of my mind actively processing information.
