Sadly, I just couldn't get past all the publication rejection, and I gave up. Do I wish I'd been a different person, who could have ignored and kept going? Sometimes. But I'll never forget the thrill of talking to my favourite author about writing for children.

Doyle was generous with his time, and he loved my manuscript. Said he wouldn't change a thing. Told me why. Told me to keep writing, and keep trying. He was as wonderful a human being as he was a writer.

I persevered for a while. And I went to a conference where we could submit a manuscript and get feedback from an author. We didn't know who, we found out when we turned out. Me? I got Brian Doyle. I was both thrilled and terrified. I shouldn't have been terrified.

A story, if you will: I was also, back then, an aspiring writer for children, and I took classes and workshops and read my stories and got the best kind of rejections for them (the ones where they tell you they like it but it doesn't fit for them at the moment). Me, I just felt rejection.

The best thing about Coolie was Upendra, who got a terrific entrance and just was on fire when he was on screen. The rest was just exhausting.

I am both flabbergasted and delighted. I really liked the film, but I absolutely did not expect to see it take off like this. But I'm so tickled to see a woman-led film burn up the box office. Credit to AB George for the info. #DesiWatch

There was also an Odiyan in the film, subtitled as "shape-shifter" -- and there is even more lore around odiyan as well.

You're right -- I didn't scroll down, it just has 8 eps listed at the top so I assumed they were all there. Yes, when I scroll down, it says available Sept. 14th. Do they appear once a week? Planning for when I start watching.

My Netflix has 8 eps -- I only know this because I just went to add it to my queue.

There's been some discussion about that, with the general feeling being that the animation sequences were AI created. I agree with you, real artists are always the better option. I do wonder if they did use AI, was it because the budget was so small? Maybe after this success, they'll use artists?
