In a press statement today, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) calls on Afghanistan’s de facto authorities to urgently restore Internet and telecommunications access. The ban has immediate and far-reaching consequences and risks inflicting significant harm on the Afghan people.

Briefing the Security Council, Deputy Special Coordinator Alakbarov warned that famine in Gaza, escalating violence in the West Bank, and continued settlement expansion imperil prospects for peace. He called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and unimpeded humanitarian access.
