Mohamed Al Hassan, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), briefs the Security Council meeting on the situation concerning Iraq.

In his final Security Council briefing as head of UNAMI - whose mandate ends on 31 Dec - SRSG Mohamed Al Hassan underscored Iraq’s hard-won gains over 22 years, from adopting a new Constitution to the elections this November.

This morning, the Security Council will hold its final briefing on the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), which will close by 31 December 2025 in line with resolution 2732 (2024).
