The planet appears blue with a large, white patch taking up the bottom half. Around the planet is a system of nested rings. The outermost ring is the brightest while the innermost ring is the faintest. Beyond the rings are 14 labeled moons appearing as points of light. The newly discovered planet, S/2025 U1, is labeled in yellow.
🌕 Surprise in Uranus’ sky!
Astronomers have just spotted a new moon in images taken by the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope.
Check it out alongside 13 of the 28 other known moons orbiting the planet.

The image is an artist representation of CAPERS-LRD-z9 galaxy, home to the earliest confirmed black hole. The supermassive black hole at its heart is believed to be surrounded by a dense cloud of gas, giving the galaxy a distinctive reddish color.
🧵
Using JWST/NIRSpec PRISM spectroscopy, an international research team has recently made an extraordinary discovery: the earliest CONFIRMED black hole, located at the heart of the CAPERS-LRD-z9 galaxy, 13.3 billion ly away.

And... another one. It looks like Trappist-1 d, the innermost of the planets within the "habitable zone" of that star, is likely airless, after that same conclusion (but with higher confidence) was already reached earlier for its inner neighbors (b and c)...

💥💥 Double detonation!
For the first time, astronomers have obtained visual evidence that a star met its end by detonating twice.
The fingerprint that points to this mechanism is represented by two separate shells of calcium.
