I am currently working on something longer than normal for me! πŸ’•β˜ΊοΈ

I no longer chase self expression. I chase resonance. #writing

Ran my #writing through an ai detector, turns out I’m πŸ’― human. You don’t say?

I have written many ways:

With abashed flow, going to it as quick as I can so as to not lose the narrative

To, creating a story structure, knowing what was coming next because I planned it

To, #writing with ease to prompts that vaguely make sense together and letting the story structure itself

This left me with so many questions. Lovely, I hope you expand it. It has the skeletal promise of a long piece.

30,055 words for my novel, in 39 days. β˜ΊοΈπŸ’• It’s coming together as short stories, 6 so far. They all explore witnessing erosion; through grief, gentle rebellion, myth and memory. It’s about 5k words a week, which is less than I expected. But, I’m really proud of it so far. #writing πŸͺ© πŸ•Ί

The Lost Memories is finished. I did it in two days. A 10,045 word novella about the loss and grief felt when someone leaves you behind. Starring a teacup and a spoon! #writing

My work is just slowly and slowly becoming bigger with each piece. It started with small flash poetry, then I got a short story out of myself. Now I’m onto a novella. Baby steps!

Writing tends to be part processing and part journaling for me; even when it explores completely random things not related to me. Trust the process!

Kinda related, kinda not. So, I saw a ghost writing job that was asking for 10,000 words a week, fantasy. It paid 3 cents a word. I tried to write that, to see if I could do it. And, ended up with a philosophical piece. However; it had all maps and characters you want! Just not the fantasy. Win?

2,464 words today. About a teacup that forgot its purpose. A drizzle outside stirs forgotten thoughts among the objects in the apartment, and the teacup begins to question its place.

I wrote 5,453 words that explores a girls journey to the end. She is searching for answers, guided by a drive to understand and heal, but longs for magic and dancing. She finds peace in her last moments, while her memory slowly disappears in communion with a tree. #writing

I went from having a writing practice to having all the social medias for my own website, which I own for the next three years. From there I wrote a novella. Now I want an ISBN, barcode, copyright, ebookcreator, and QRplus code. THEN I might actually publish something. Thoughts? What a rabbit hole.

For me, have steps and actionable goals helps. Then I feel less lost in words and pages of abstract poetry and stories. At the end of the day, I feel like I am writing my own story through the journey.

My strategy right now is:
β€’write everyday
β€’submit short stories to publications
β€’create a blog of my own
β€’monetize somewhere along the way
β€’publish other authors short stories on my blog
β€’and, eventually become a publication
β€’publish hardcover books

The silly thing isβ€”confidence is always everything. No matter what you do, you are doing it for you. And, the world just might pay attention to it. That’s always a bonus.

If you want a large manuscript: do it. If it seems easier to make smaller ones for now, that also works. You can also share some of your work here so that you have somewhere for people to find you.

I think poetry contests are definitely helpful to get you published and give credence to your name when you do want to publish. I actually don’t think that having multiple small or large collection of stories matters. It’s about knowing what you want to do and not taking no for an answer.

I live in SF and work at a theatre… 🎭

I actually always have a love for the first draft more than I do for the final draft or the more polished version of my thoughts.

Same! It’s calming to the mind, and it brings out things you didn’t even know you were worried/sad/thinking about.

And, if you want your long goal to be to publish a collection of poetry. Write, write, write and then take the steps to publish. You can do it!!! I can’t stop writing and have a new vision to work with. ☺️

I’d make a plan for it, and stick to it. Even if your plan is just to copyright your work and post on Bluesky. Having a goal and vision helps guide your journey.

I posted for 5+ years on instagram. I had a moderate following and loved my progression as an artist. Then, I suddenly quit because I didn’t want ai to learn from it/others to steal it. It was like taking down a whole chapter of my life, and very painful. But, I do encourage you to post and write!
