Yes Break!! is interesting on this. But it still is basically normal combat where other people give up their attack to buff one person. Tunnels&Trolls big dumb group combat got me thinking abt more radical alternatives.

So that in a combat some might be choosing to fight as a group and others solo? So you could have that Iliad energy where groups clash but some people face off on their own? Fresh form the Forge which does a lot with lines of battle, but it doesn't treat the group as a unit. 2/2

Has anyone written a ttrpg combat system where fighting as a group is a tactical choice mechanically different than fighting solo, where the group is treated as a single unit with mechanical advantages? Also where the group can be broken up by a charge or if someone dies? 1/2

What are the good ruined city published modules/campaigns for either fantasy or sci-fi. Here's what I've got so far: Dwellers in the Forbidden City, Pavis & Big Rubble, and the Ruins of Mythdrannor.

There can be real fun for players in Mos Eisley-style settings like this. I have played in games where players could bring anything and (most) people had a blast. It is also part of the charm of something like City State of the Invincible Overlord- a place where all the “monsters” of the D&D live
