It's what's saved Australia from political extremism.

01.10.2025 09:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In some parts of polite society, it now holds that if many of Kirk's views were repugnant, his willingness to calmly argue about them and his insistence that people hash out their disagreements through discourse at a time of such division made him a free-speech advocate, and an exemplar of how we should engage politically across difference. But for those who were directly targeted by Kirk's rhetoric, this thinking seems to place the civility of Kirk's style of argument over the incivility of what he argued. Through gossamer tributes, Kirk's cruel condemnation of transgender people and his racist throwback views about Black Americans were no longer anathema but instead are being treated as just another political view to be respectfully debated β like a position on tax rates or health care policy. Using Kirk's knack for vigorous argument to excuse the reemergence of unabashed bigotry in mainstream politics feels both frightening and perilous.
"The number of Dems & esteemed US institutions that have engaged in the mainstreaming of Kirk demonstrates that espousing open & explicit bigotry no longer relegates one to the fringe of political discourse, a phenomenon not witnessed since the civil rights era.β www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/m...

10.09.2025 12:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Smaller capacity ground too. Roar broke their women's record at Perry last season ~3600). The transport is going to keep a lot of people away π
All In a season the women's Asian cup is being held down the road on the gc.
It's really, really disappointing. Almost certainly out of the clubs control, but with the temp seating set up at Perry for Npl Finals, I was super excited.
I'm sure Strikers have cost themselves a good chunk of money here and for what? The redevelopment of Perry cannot come soon enough.
So Brisbane Roar announce the women's team is moving home games again. This time from Perry Park (Brisbane Strikers) to Spencer Park (Brisbane City).
Claim they couldn't reach an agreement on the hire of Perry Park and the facilities are apparently not good enough #aleague #alw #dub

03.08.2025 03:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Can we reduce it by getting rid of Man U and Spurs? More watchable that way.
I generally disagree with making it smaller. I feel that just makes it even more of a closed shop than it already is.
When it went up to 151 at the last parliament, I thought it made sense it would go up. Couldn't understand it's reduction at the recent election.
31.07.2025 08:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We are pleased to see the ACT gov ensuring this great team can continue to survive, but the funding disparity remains.
ACT Gov pays $2.85 mil a season to Greater Western Sydney in the AFL to be "Canberra's team", but has to play a game each year to ensure the survival of an actual Canberran team.
