Road trip. First stop: Tucson, where we’ll see T.J. McConnell inducted into the University of Arizona Ring of Honor, then it’s on to Phoenix, Sacramento, and San Francisco.

Last year at this time, we were headed for Las Vegas. This year, we’re off to Philadelphia. No disrespect intended, as Philadelphia is both historic and interesting, but…advantage: Vegas.

When I learned that we were changing hotels in Toronto, I assumed (naturally) that it was because the new hotel had a 13th floor. Imagine my profound dismay when reality hit.

This bar is right behind our broadcast location in Houston, so if things don’t go well, suffice to say…well, there are scenarios under which Eddie Gill will work the fourth quarter solo.

No 13th floor in Houston. For that matter, no 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th floor, either. Not sure what to make of this place.

Given the choice, at 3 AM I’d rather be enjoying a Buffalo Trace neat and savoring a Cohiba as the evening winds down.
