20 years ago I created a comic and cast of characters called Dread Society X (DSX). Heavily inspired by the Black Radical Tradition. I even made a character called Assata as an homage to Assata Sahkur. I read her autobiography in high school and wanted to make a character based on her.

The theme song for Double Dragon lives rent free in my head for eternity. lol

Assata Shakur joins the ancestors a free woman. She did not die bound by the carceral system and she did not pass away living in a land that never respected or accepted her.

Assata taught us that liberation can not be bargained for, it must be taken.
