the UK's liberal TERF is quite a long-standing concept but I think it's starting to shatter, especially within the two main parties of the North London leafy suburbs – Grn and LD.

GCs often say they're "politically homeless" but they usually can only find platform and funding from a specific place

15.01.2026 22:06 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Two thoughts: 1) if you're suppressing or lack empathy for one group that you cannot relate to, it's very easy (if not already the case) for that to also apply to another group you cannot relate to. 2) politically, GCs only really have allies on the right-wing, especially outside of the UK.

Now now, I think comparison with GCs is being quite unfair to sociopaths. /s

(Not like comparing these things is a worthwhile endeavour nor particularly meaningful. The private thing is a big deal, from my understanding there's only a few private providers in Ireland, whereas you're spoiled a /bit/ for choice at least in London.)

I think the waiting list for the NGS (Ireland) is more than 4 years in reality.

At least comparing my own experience (London GIC) with that of NGS users, I think Ireland's actually worse than us.

The UK also has a massive private ecosystem for trans care which I don't think Ireland does.

I know it’s the right-whinge playbook, but it sickens me to my stomach every time one of these bigots plays the victim.

β€œIt is oppression, not allowing us to opress people we don’t like”

We will see how resolute the Greens are in this case when the rubber actually meets the road.

NHS England Β» Report of the independent ADHD Taskforce: Part 1 April 2025

An independent taskforce *just* did a huge review of ADHD in England, and the conclusion was that it's "under-recognised, under-diagnosed and under-treated."

The government must remove Robbie Gibb from the BBC board immediately – and end the practice of political appointments, which so badly undermines the BBC, altogether.

Twitter exchange:

Glinner: Hey Victoria, should β€˜Emily’ be allowed in women’s sports and spaces? What about female-only shelters and rape crisis centres? A yes or no will suffice.

Victoria: In my experience, Graham, *nothing* will suffice to stop you pestering me, and I’m not comfortable with anger. Only Connect is just a harmless quiz show. I try to ignore your relentless messages like I would with any other troll. But on this occasion, out of respect for the friendly relationship we used to have and the brilliant writer you used to be, I will ask you one more time to please, please, please, leave us alone. If you are still in there somewhere: stop it. You MUST be better than this.

Graham Linehan masquerades as a victim.
In reality, he’s an aggressive, obsessive bully - and Victoria Coren-Mitchell just called him out on it.

Captured by the β€˜free market’ fanatics The Charity Commission’s political naivety complex...

The Charity Commission 'investigation' of a 'charity' (which is really a free market lobbyist that doesn't declare its funders) incredibly accepts assurances that it isn't an overtly political body.

β€œNooooo! You can’t be some dorky conventional presenting lady who looks like a freakishly tall nerdy librarian or academic! You have to shatter the binary, overthrow capitalism, and attack and dethrone God!”

I have no idea how to do that and it sounds like too much pressure and a lot of work.

As a trans woman, I’m voting expressly against Mothin. He says to judge him on his actions and not pledges, but his actions are merely just virtue signals of β€œtrans people are oppressed” β€” no views around what action is needed. At least Adrian is honest that he’s a transphobe.

One can show solidarity and be pro-liberation while still being opposed to religion, just as you can show solidarity with the global south while still opposing the homophobia and sexism common in those countries.

The petition makes no reference to the ID restrictions, even if that’s what caused a spike of signatures. The petition talks about a real problem which is sites will rather shut down or block the UK than comply, because complying is difficult and the consequences are onerous.

Mr Khan: show your true flag: declare London a Sanctuary city and ban the Gender Critical Ideology Movement in the City as the fascist body that it is. Distance yourself from a Government hell-bent on remaining in the culture wars for the foreseeable future, and cosying-up to hate on a daily basis.

The BBC have now successfully buried it to page 2 with a ton of news articles, burying it. Very convinced this article was just plausible deniability so they can say they covered it.

RSE guidance is β€œpatently and cruelly transphobic” - community responds to β€˜Section 28 2.0’ curriculum It has taken a "trans exclusionary" approach and received widespread condemnation from the LGBTQIA+ community
