This is contemptible from Labour!

Immigrants make phenomenal contributions to life in the UK - working in pretty much every sector, bringing cultural diversity & creativity to our society.

This scapegoating must stop!
Labour must stop pandering to the far right!

“Hopeless, Starving, and Besieged” The 154-page report, “‘Hopeless, Starving, and Besieged’: Israel’s Forced Displacement of Palestinians in Gaza,” examines how Israeli authorities’ conduct has led to the displacement of over 90 percent of the population of Gaza—1.9 million Palestinians—and the widespread destruction of much of Gaza over the last 13 months. Israeli forces have carried out deliberate, controlled demolitions of homes and civilian infrastructure, including in areas where they have apparent aims of creating “buffer zones” and security “corridors,” from which Palestinians are likely to be permanently displaced. Contrary to claims by Israeli officials, their actions do not comply with the laws of war.

This report by @hrw.org is just as harrowing today as when it was published a year ago.
Perhaps even more so, because, despite the so-called ceasefire, Palestinians continue to be murdered by the apartheid Israeli regime.

War crimes must be challenged!
Free Palestine!

Glad to be able to pop by the @ducuuo.bsky.social picket line as they were just getting set up this morning.
Staff are on strike in the cold & damp to say NO to compulsory redundancies. Management must engage with staff properly: co-design a recovery plan, do not impose cuts!

Sign the petition: End the tax break for big pharma like GlaxoSmithKline at the Autumn budget While the NHS is at breaking point, Britain's biggest pharmaceutical companies are receiving BILLIONS in tax breaks - enough is enough, sign the petition calling for Rachel Reeves to end the tax breaks for Big pharma:

As the UK Budget draws ever closer, many fear that public services we all rely on will be cut.
But the Chancellor could generate billions of ££ for our NHS, social care, education - just by ending the tax breaks Big Pharma gets now.

Recently I talked to a woman who had been raped about cross examination. She went into a catatonic state for 15 mins, then asked me to hold her hand, and then began to cry. We discussed whether she should refuse to give evidence - even though it would mean he got off.

And now this 👇🏻

Do you think staff at the University of Dundee were misled when we were told there would be no redundancies? Or when he told us they hadn’t said there would be no redundancies?

Time to end age discrimination in wages Time to end age discrimination in wages - Greens call for living wage for workers of all ages

Analysis from the @tuc.org.uk in 2024 found that more than 700,000 18–20 year olds across the UK could be missing out on £2,400 a year on average because they are not covered by the main #MinimumWage

Last week I reaffirmed @scottishgreens.org' commitment to legal aid reform to ensure survivors of domestic abuse can access justice.
I was pleased to discuss animal welfare with the SSPCA & those seeking to ban greyhound racing in Scotland.

Today, Aberdeen's Planning Committee will be discussing the latest planning application for the development and industrialisation of St Fittick's Community Park - Torry's last remaining green space.

I strongly oppose the development. Read more in the thread

The job of the radical is to make hope possible rather than despair convincing!

Mamdani shows:
- you don't have to pander to the right to win
- solidarity with trans people is popular
- people want leaders to speak out against genocide
- we must tax wealth

Scottish politics must learn from this.

Reeves considers cut to green levies in effort to reduce cost of energy bills Exclusive: Chancellor hopes to save up to £170 from average bill but industry insiders say move would be ‘disastrous’

Can’t quite believe the Chancellor is seriously considering slashing support for home energy efficiency as a way to cut fuel bills 👀. Locking people into cold & leaky homes which will cost them more to heat & decimating the insulation industry at same time. Total madness 👇

75 years ago today, the European Convention of Human Rights, ECHR, was created. The UK played a key role in shaping it.
We should celebrate the ECHR & the vision of all who brought it to life.
We must resist regressive & cynical moves to rip us out of the convention!

People deserve a right to recovery, but we need to get it right. This legislation is not the answer.

I'll keep working to support research & initiatives for those struggling with addiction, such as Dundee's new Vulnerable Access Clinic.

It would have put pressure on services, w/o increasing their capacity.

It didn't offer ways to tackle the causes of drug addiction: poverty, isolation, mental health service cuts.

It didn't address what we know works: safe consumption rooms, naloxone, Housing First principles.

Scotland's drug death record is a tragedy that we need to fix. But that's exactly why I voted against the Right to Addiction Recovery Bill.

Every life lost to drugs is a collective neglect of the real causes of addiction. This Bill wouldn't have addressed those causes (a 🧵)
