this rocks. when indiana edu killed the student newspaper, Purdue stepped up, printed the forbidden issue, drove it to Bloomington and stocked the boxes.

Wow. That’s really untenable when solar offers 160x on your mileage, but it’s never about efficiency.

Bayesian Changepoint Detection via Logistic Regression and the Topological Analysis of Image Series We present a Bayesian method for multivariate changepoint detection that allows for simultaneous inference on the location of a changepoint and the coefficients of a logistic regression model for dist...

Not only do we recover the exact location of the changes, but we can uncover the nature of the changes (in which coordinates they occur) and how confident we are the changes occur in those coordinates! The paper contains a lot more examples along these lines.

If we consider a 3-dimensional Gaussian series with three changes at times 120, 320 and 400 specified by

1) x_1 increases
2) x_1 decreases, x_2 increases
3) x_2 decreases, x_3 increases

we get the following results for our posterior "z-scores" of the logistic regression coordinates:

This work gives one the ability to quantify the uncertainty around changes using a Bayesian approach and also leverage the inferential power of logistic regression to determine how the change occurs.

America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.
