The ongoing decline of traditional media is very sad to see. Agree or disagree with its ideological stance, the Economist was a bastion of fact-based reportage not too long ago, but with apologies to Messrs Norman and Bart, fings ain't wot they used t'be.

Ah, good, at least there was an explanation. Clearly young me didn't pick up on that and I need to another viewing. I know season two has a slightly different vibe, but I seem to recall it's still much more watchable than Larson's changes to Buck Rogers?

What I questioned even as a kid is how an obviously sub-light velocity got the Moon to exoplanets so quickly. It sort of dented my suspension of disbelief for what was otherwise a pretty hard sci-fi show.

(If there was a wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey explanation, I must have missed it.)

I think the most disturbing aspect is that it faces the foot of the bed, allowing continuous eye contact with the remaining occupant. 😖

I spotted the Lifeboat on Amazon's "Leaving Prime in the next 30 days" list and just finished the series. Enjoyed it—great cast, and a script that didn't shy away from some of history's uglier facets while balancing drama and humour in Trek-like fashion. On the lookout for Time Freak next. 🙂

Petition: Repeal the Online Safety Act We want the Government to repeal the Online Safety act.

Please sign if you can (i.e. UK citizens), share & boost. As well as being incredibly restrictive & a huge invasion of personal privacy, many small hobbyist websites, communities & forums have already shut down because of this act, because they simply don't have the time and/or resource to comply.

If the author is dead or the book out of print, I'd entirely agree. Otherwise one could argue buying second-hand goes against an extended version of your "support your creative friends" principle below. After all, don't most people have a parasocial relationship with authors whose work they enjoy? 😉
