I didn’t know until now that in the original Rosie the Riveter painting, she is crushing a copy of Mein Kampf under her foot. Happy feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary, remembering all the women who crush the serpents of Satan under their heel.

Este fragmento con el que se inicia una de los más importantes estudios históricos sobre el fascismo debería recordarse sin cesar.

"El fascismo, antes de convertirse en fuerza política, fue un fenómeno cultural...".

It's really weird to demand accountability from a NYC mayoral candidate for a deadly NYC shooting rather than the current NYC mayor, an ex-cop who campaigned on a "tough on crime" platform and promptly got indicted for crimes

Children cling to ceiling fan as Ruidoso, NM flooding destroys RV park, family home Survivors of the Ruidoso, New Mexico flash flood recount the horrors of the events that left three people dead and a community recovery.

The Riverview RV Park in Riudoso, New Mexico was ground zero of the destruction caused by Tuesday’s flash flood. All three victims were staying here. The site’s owner recounted to me the horror of the flooding, which almost carried his own children away.

My story for the El Paso Times.

"THERE'S A THIN line," McClain continued, "between buffoonery and what is a danger to the local citizenry." Posse publications in Oregon ("The Swinging Sword," "Parallax View" and the so-called "Bluebook," a pocket-sized compendium of posse history and guiding legal philosophies), explain that the ordinary citizen has ultimate authority to arrest sheriffs and judges who subvert the Constitution.

In the 1970s there was a Christian Nationalist org in Oregon called the Posse Comitatus whose members impersonated police officers. They menaced judges and other public officials who they thought had committed "treason" against the Constitution. A close associate became chair of the OR GOP in 1978.

I'd politely disagree simply because there are plenty of US flags in the protests but media reporting has chosen to focus on the Mexican ones for impact and clicks. Plus, not seeing much to gain in placating claims of an "invasion" coming from MAGA ranks. So: 🇲🇽

Se podría decir que mientras que la fantasía redentora de la izquierda se suele identificar con la revolución, la de la derecha, como no se cansan de recordar y amenazar, es a menudo la del golpe de Estado. Y cada una su filosofía implícita de la historia y de la política.
