Employee Ownership and Wealth Inequality: A Path to Reducing Wealth Concentration This paper examines the impact of an economy-wide shift to broad-based employee ownership on wealth concentration in the United States. Relying on government da

A study using government data finds that if all businesses became 30% employee-owned, the bottom 90% would experience significant gains in wealth, with much of the benefits going to marginalized groups.

If we're serious about addressing wealth inequality, worker ownership must be at the forefront.

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

It's a captivating dish - watching the tuna shavings and seaweed dance on top of the tofu, the beauty of the bowl. Probably my favourite dish in Kingston!

Now that Ford is premier again, and there's nothing we can do to change that, Ontarians must now put all their energy towards pressuring him to rip up the $100 million contract with StarLink.

Elon Musk is a threat to democracy and we should NOT be in business with him!

If you live in Ontario, a concrete thing you can do to protect Canadian interests from American encroachment or straight up invasion is to vote out Ford. He is on the record as happy that Trump was elected and has given $100 million contract to Elon Musk.

Vote him out!

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Nobody wants an emergency, but perhaps we should want some of the remarkable things that can happen during them. On the top of my list of those things is how in the immediate aftermath of a hurricane, a fire, an earthquake,ย ย people take care of each other and work together without the kind of vetting and fretting whether they agree entirely about politics or religion or other matters. We are in an unprecedented emergency in the United States with fallout that poses threats to environments, economies, human rights and even survival beyond our borders, and we could use some of that energy. As political scientist Erica Chenoweth said in Saturday'sย Meditations in an Emergencyย interview, "Theย best studyย on the subject in my opinion suggests that in the long term, institutions really canโ€™t save us; that civil society and mass mobilization are a more potent check on a backsliding democracy in the long term than relying on institutional checks and balances alone."ย
Right now the courts are doing important business as they render verdict after verdict against Trump and Musk thanks to lawsuits brought by states, federal employees, and others with standing. Some of the Democrats in office are being amazing, and others in the opposition party are being waffles, milquetoasts, cookies that crumble, and otherย ย refined-carbohydrate items. As is now clear, the administrative branch of the federal government of the United States is engaging in a coup attempt against the legislative and judicial branches, against the law and constitution itself, and against your rights and mine and the security and stability of the world. They can be defeated and at a minimum held in check, and the sooner they are the more limited the damage. But as Chenoweth points out, it's up to us. Are we up to it?

In this emergency, I think it likely that we are going to need to pitch a very big tent and invite everyone in who doesn't want to live in a dictatorship... www.meditationsinanemergency.com/big-tents-an...

We need to shut down any attempt by Elon Musk to monkey-wrench our election. We must defend Canada's democratic integrity.
Please write to Elections Canada calling on them to shut down interference by Musk's interference in the X algorithm.

The more under resourced we are emotionally, the easier it is to activate us and turn us against each other. The spectacle is a strategy fam. We have to resist with rest, regulation practices and rooting ourselves in our bodies as we fight back
