this sounds like trash talk and it sorta is but **also** the Warp in the West is objectively one of mutts favorite early choices in game design. it felt like such a cool creative way to make all the endings canon at once, rather than an excuse for retconning things that didnt fit the new narrative.

never seen a series go so hard on canonizing exactly why the creators actually dont have to pay attention to their own creates history and it actually makes TOOOTAL sense why nothing is consistent between games, the lore said thats normal and cool so that makes it creative instead of lazy!

mutt loves board games and coop games but also its got the anxiety that constantly tells it that its presence is ruining everyone's experience (along with just enough genuinely offputting social tics to *know* when its annoying those around it but not enough control to stop itself from doing so)

your job was just to understand how fucked up that implication is, but some audiences simply *trusted* the narrative structure and interpreted that as the film genuinely proposing the ending as a happy scenario. its a lack of understanding that the feeling of wrongness is intentional, not a failure.

Midsommar played with narrative in a way people werent used to and because of that they let their typical method of understanding movies cloud the experience. Yes, the movie ends on a resolution. a smile. a (doylistically, from the point of the structure of the narrative) HAPPY ending.

same goes for Midsommar! yes, people talked about it! thousands of people had hundreds of hot takes about the ending being a sick glorification of cult indoctrination. again though, that isnt so much a case of analyzing the film, its just battling with YOUR inability to understand what it was saying

if your argument is "tons of people talk about Fight Club!!" then I ask you to consider the difference between discussion based on media analysis VS discussion based on media illiteracy, since (in my experience at least) 90% of "discussion" around it centers around people misinterpreting the themes.

while Lebowski isnt a personal favorite of mine and there are things I dont love about it, theres not anything about it thats objectively flawed, it does everything it wants to pretty perfectly and despite that it is interesting to talk about because of the amount of unusual choices it makes.

personally both of those fit this take. I love Blazing Saddles but i dont really seek out any discussion on it because I feel the movie says everything it intends to say, like I dont have to speculate on what Mel Brooks *meant* by any specific scene or joke. Big Lebowski is a good pull tho, I agree.

you should never watch Fight Club and think "I wonder if they were trying to imply {BLANK} or not?" or "I cant tell what vibe this actor is even putting off?" because that movie is very clearly "as-intended". it succeeded in getting across what it wanted to.

probably the single movie mutt has talked about more than any other is Cube. because that movie wants to say so many things, and its compiled of so many flaws that it becomes so much more interpretable.
