Throughout the Gorton and Denton by-election various commentators have been incredibly wrong

They mocked the graphs. They doubted the canvass returns. Some were absolutely awful about our candidate Hannah

Well there we are...

So just as a final word on this by election before polls close:

No matter what the result, Gorton and Denton is supposed to be in a category of safe seat that should essentially render it uncompetitive. The fact that it isn't is a damning indictment of Labour's time in office.

Dear Lucy On the eve of the by-election, your Labour party spokesperson has admitted to the Huffington Post that a Labour party leaflet has been delivered through doors with your imprint recommending a vote for Labour by a tactical voting organisation which does not exist. This is deeply troubling, it is actually lying to voters. Did you approve this? Do you feel the Labour Party in government should be held to different standards in terms of honesty to the British public? In your last letter to me you mentioned your ‘very extensive data’ and ‘having spoken to over a third of eligible voters’ which led you to an understanding that the by election ‘was a contest between labour and Reform’. Clearly this latest development only tells voters one thing - you will employ any type of political deception (or in Urdu “Dhoka” ) to win. You will be very aware that all three real tactical voting organisations are recommending a vote for the Greens as the best way to stop Reform. Lying to the voters, as you have been caught doing, raises the real prospect that Reform will be the beneficiaries, something you have said that you don’t want. Why did you invent a fake tactical voting company to stop the Green Party beating Reform?

I'm starting to think your letters haven't always been in good faith...

Labour's campaign against the Greens is toxic and they have the audacity to say that the Greens are manipulating Muslim voters? Labour have done nothing for Muslim voters and then they use our name to attack parties who acknowledge Islamophobia and who the reject far-right narratives which harm us.

The Govt should have scrapped the two child benefit cap 19 months ago, but failed to do so.

It could have listened to families enduring the overall benefit who will see no benefit because of it, but failed to do so.

It could have helped every child in poverty, but failed to do so.

SCAM / BURGLARY ALERT - a few neighbours on Liberia and Calabria Roads have found these barely visible transparent stickers on their doors/letterboxes. This is a known scam - houses which still have the stickers visible after a few days are targeted for burglary. CHECK your door and remove it.

Dear Lucy Three weeks ago you wrote me a bizarre letter in an attempt to hold on to voters who Labour have for too long taken for granted in Gorton and Denton. First, I’d like to give my apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I've been busy on the ground with Hannah Spencer talking to voters about the issues that matter to them – lowering bills, protecting the NHS and rebuilding our public services. You'll appreciate most of your letter is out of date now, but I'm sure you'll have seen the poll that came out today, that puts us in first place and Reform in second. Labour are a distant third and it’s now clearer than ever that your party cannot win in Gorton and Denton. If you are as concerned about stopping Reform as you proposed in your letter, the course is now clear: in the spirit in which you wrote to me, you should now urge your members and former voters to back Hannah Spencer on the 26th February to stop Reform and make hope normal again. No such Green Party leaflet exists. This is a deliberate misrepresentation by Islington Labour of a private citizen writing an email - someone who isn't a member.
