I've ALWAYS had a soft spot for Tracker.

ONI the type of organization to make you go missing, so you can be "found" "alive and well"

At the end of the day, you want it to be genuine, right. You want the characters to be written intentionally. Not just to check a box. Writers should look to Halo for creating that intentional inclusion to strengthen their stories.

DEI is a HOT topic of course. But I always scoff a little at the accusations some have that Halo has become "woke".

Halo was literally defined from the start by women, minorities and faceless characters. Because Bungie knew in THEIR story these issues did not exist.

It's about Aliens, bro.

Halo is a great example of well executed diversity and inclusion in gaming but funny enough, it was NEVER on purpose.

Instead it's because of its setting in a post-modern future, where space colonialism and the Covenant war make modern civil/social issues irrelevant.

Aka, Literal ancient history.

We finished the fight in 2007 and brought Chief home in 2012. So what have we accomplished since?

What do you think is the answer?

Halo is struggling hard with story identity, and each time these massive off-screen jump cuts occur, I wager more and more fans are being disillusioned to the Halo story. How can we invest interest in stories when we keep getting denied participation in the conclusion.

I guess my point is that it's confusing. I'm a massive fan of the Halo story and universe, but it's not practical to assume the fan base at large is following comics, books and web shorts- because for better or worse it's a gaming fan base.

The Created Conflict was introduced to Halo in 2012.

It was ended off screen in 2021, following a massive cliff hanger in 2015.

Some non-game media covered the post Halo 5 Created Conflict, but that doesn't cut it imo.

Reach is more widely explored in-game, in-franchise than Earth has been.

I think the ambiguity of Earth in Halo is part of the franchise charm. Humanity in Halo is realistically advanced, compared to other sci-fi narratives.

It's not far fetched that Earth, to many, is 'alien'.

The Halo titles have a reoccurring theme of a warship being the "home base" throughout the campaign.

For me, the Spirit of Fire is the coolest in the franchise.

Whats your favorite?

Halo 4 and Halo 5 deserve more props in my book for successfully having the BR, DMR, Carbine and Light Rifle all coexist in one sandbox, each with small but palpable differences in function.

It puts power of preference in the players hands.

Small Variation = Diverse Gameplay

Despite the success of Halo Wars 2 in its circles, it wasn't til Halo Infinite that the majority of fans got to see The Banished in action.

But I don't think Infinite did it right... Their portrayal really felt stifled by this need to "soft reboot" Halo, and they just ended up as the red Covenant.

I am specifically anti Spartan Strike and Assault
