You might get away with the Check File Integrity option in OBS's Help menu instead of reinstalling it.

If you don't feel comfortable with trying this, you may want to look at controllers, the GPU or OBS since according to my DebugView++ output when starting Steam, it interacts with both in some way. Maybe try without any controllers plugged in, clean reinstall the GPU or OBS.

From there, you can look at either any errors that may have happened or what Steam was doing before it closed. This may not catch anything useful too, but it is information that is not readily accessible. There is also the possibility it may lead to red herrings. Just something to consider.

You could try run DebugView++ as an Admin before starting Steam, then pausing DebugView after Steam disappears so you can just collect the Debug messages during that. You can get it here: github.com/CobaltFusion...

Just a mention, HAGS is supposed to help performance with GPU occupied applications. Unfortunately there's a history of problems with it enabled, I don't know who exactly to blame as it could be MS or the GPU driver vendor. Still in the end, it should be enabled, provided it's working without issue.

I don't know what your hardware and environment is, and this is a shot in the dark, but have you messed with the "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" setting in Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Advanced graphics settings?

I know limitation breeds creativity, and there are definitely limitations to ray-tracing. Still, game creators are being creative with ray-tracing and they are getting better at using it and the old techniques where it's best needed. Maybe I should just shut up and get some sleep.

... have you ever held a diorama and just watched how the sunlight hits everything in it. Game worlds are just dynamic dioramas, and you just can't just bake in light on everything. RTRT is a new tool for detail, but it doesn't throw everything away before it, even if abused a lot right now.
