For laid-off Target employees, advice and hope from staffing pros - Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal Target's layoffs affect 1,000 employees, but experts say job prospects stay strong for those flexible in their search and open to new opportunities.

Target Corp. is laying off 800+ from the Twin Cities in the retailer's biggest HQ job cuts in a decade. But many affected workers could be well-positioned to compete in the job market, recruiting professionals say. www.bizjournals.com/twincities/n...

Those are licensed stores operated by Target; theyโ€™re not even Starbucks workers, I donโ€™t think. So if they ever get scratched itโ€™s a Target decision, not an SBUX one.

(I mean, I suppose at some point Starbucks could decide to not renew the license or something.)

I think Starbucksโ€™ decision was more a them-issue than an us-issue, but regardless Iโ€™d say downtown coffee scene is better now (for consumers, at least) than before Caribou exit. Certainly more varied.

The City Center one could affect hotel guests, but the shops closest to Marquette and Westin stay open we think.

Market leader Caribou retreated from downtown Minneapolis a few years ago, leaving more space for indie shops. Starbucks' cutbacks don't appear as substantial โ€” but the shutdowns include some well-known spots. www.bizjournals.com/twincities/n...

Commercial media basically gets no respect in the journalism-helper world for the obvious reasons we all know. But since the shit hit the fan in L.A. last week, 20th century media has been stomping it.
