If you or you dog agility teammate are a Newbie, Beginner, Novice, or whatever you call yourself, I've put together a list of my AgilityNerd blog articles that focus on getting started in dog agility.

Training the chute? I doubt it! I've updated my blog software so I can mark articles as obsolete and now a warning will be shown at the top of the article. I've started marking some articles and will update others as I come across them.

Another classic dog agility sequence: the pinwheel to serpentine combo (or vice versa) 4-10. I'm sure some variation of this in at least one course somewhere in the country every weekend π #dogagility #dogagilitytraining
02.09.2025 14:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The "cloverleaf" (at least that's I call it) e.g. 9-10-11 seems to be popping up again in courses and drills. It's been around for ages and is a good set up to practice forward sends, wraps, back side wraps, threadle wraps, etc. Some workshop participants *might* see it appear in the near future π
31.08.2025 22:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ever have a course map and want to set up/build that agility course in your practice space? Want to help build courses at an agility trial? I'll go over the basics, starting from a course map/diagram to a finished course ready to run.

Can you handle this weave entry? I've blogged our experience (with video) running Stefanie Theis' Masters Series Jumping course with the most challenging weave entry I can recall. It's a fun sequence to run and use for practice! #dogagility #agilitynerd

A friend of mineβs dogs are injured and Iβm still not able to run my own dogs. I offered to let her run my dogs at a workshop. So I wrote a blog post with a list of the verbal cues I use for my dogs to help her out. #dogagility #dogtraining

Ever been frustrated when you wanted to build a course at home and the course map doesn't have a grid or any dimensions? I wrote up a blog post and recorded a video for a quick and easy website that does all the work! www.agilitynerd.com/blog/agility...
13.06.2025 17:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Calling all junior dog agility handlers! MIAC is hosting a FREE camp for junior handlers on Oct 11-12 in Middleton, WI. Registration opens June 30th. Please share to all the junior handlers you know! mwagilityclub.com/2025/06/04/o...

09.06.2025 15:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've posted my Skills & Short Sequences courses from yesterday to my website. THANKS to everyone who attended I had a great time! We are looking for a date for another day of workshops.
09.06.2025 15:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Our dogs are more than our dog agility teammates. Hereβs almost 14 yro Flyer as he follows me around the yard while Iβm watering the reseeded lawn. For his whole life Flyer has always been nearby βhelpingβ me. I love having my silent companion nearby.
10.05.2025 22:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you need a logo please put it in a blank spot on each course.
21.04.2025 15:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Dog agility judges and clubs/competitions PLEASE don't put giant logos on your course maps. Competitors are reading maps on their phone screens. A logo might look great on a computer but they can hide obstacles/numbers when reduced down to phone size. I made this map to illustrate the problem.
21.04.2025 15:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Our dogs are amazing! It is easy to loose sight of that when we are always focused on improving our performance. So take a moment to look at a video of your last run and really watch your dog and appreciate just how awesome they are!

tentative and expecting things to go wrong was never going to get us through a course!
A motto I still live by: "Plan, walk the plan, then execute the plan."

02.04.2025 18:30 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Take the bottom left 1, serp 5b to 5a, take the 1 bottom middle, take the 7s to the top, top 1, 6a, 6b and into the closing 2-7. That's 22 obstacles at 2secs each = 44 sec... but you only need to start the 7s before the timer sounds... could be possible! (3/3)
27.03.2025 15:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0then any numbered obstacle/sequence, repeat 2 more times and then run 2-7 ending with the finish jump. FYI - you just need to enter tunnel 7a before the timer sounds to get the 7 points if you complete the full sequence.
What's your plan? Mine is: (2/3)
