Shark Spotters

During a tagging field trip encountered an injured shark. This young shark, now named Scarface, was treated and tagged. The next day, he swam by the team again—maybe to say thanks. It’s a reminder that even the tiniest things we leave behind can have a big impact.

Marine education is at the core of our work, & our first educational programme of 2025 perfectly captured this spirit. Welcoming 27 eager students from Evolve Academy, our marine educators led educational activities. The students’ enthusiasm was contagious, making it a memorable start to the year.

Unlike traditional shark barriers, which are rigid structures permanently fixed in position, this barrier is deployed & retrieved on a daily basis which makes it the only one of its kind in the world! 🏖 #capetown

This past November, in support of Cape Mental Health , we had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Ocean View Kite Festival. This year’s theme, ‘Hope on a String’ fostered a safe space for youth engagement, vulnerability, and learning.

This year, as we celebrate 20 years of protecting people & sharks, we are beyond thrilled to receive the Non-Governmental Organisation Award at the SANParks Kudu Awards! A huge thank you to SANParks for this incredible acknowledgment.
