The Catalan language has a past tense built with the verb βgoβ.
So instead of using simple past, in #Catalan you can say:
vaig menjar - βI go eatβ
meaning: βI ateβ
Itβs called the periphrastic past, and itβs unusual among Romance languages because it uses βgoβ rather than βhaveβ.

The Irish language doesn't have words for 'yes' or 'no'.
Instead, the verb from the question is repeated with or without a negative particle.
For example:Β
Ar chuala tΓΊ Γ©? βDid you hear it?β
Chuala. β(I) heard.β
NΓor chuala. β(I) did not hear.β

The principle of βcomprehensible inputβ was popularised by Stephen Krashen, whose Input Hypothesis has become one of the most influential ideas in language acquisition.

Japanese has special verbs just for giving and receiving things.
For example, γγγ (ageru) means βto give,β while γγγ (morau) and polite γγγ γ (itadaku) mean βto receive.β

If you liked this experiment, I published a full piece today in the same vein: a text that gets 100 years older with every section, from a modern blog post to a medieval chronicle.
It's a single story spanning 1000 years of English. See how far you get.

A new study looks at how the brain organizes and interprets information about speech as it unfolds in real time, showing that our brains process both multiple words and multiple types of information (phonetic, syntactic, semantic, etc.) in parallel.

The word βdisasterβ comes from Latin disastrum:
dis-: βbadβ, βillβ, or βunfavourableβ
astrum: βstarβ
Stars were associated with fate. When something bad happened, it was because the stars weren't 'aligned'.
That's also why we also have words like 'ill-starred'.
