This project from ICLEI Southeast Asia allowed people to rate footpaths and pedestrian crossings in their community. They conducted a project in Quezon City and Pasig City, Philippines, where participants reviewed footpaths, crossings, and intersections using the Walkability app created by Walk21.

In terms of years and $billions per mile to build, and operating frequency, #REM is easily 10x better managed than most USA transit projects.

Counterpoint: Upzoned Griffintown still doesn't have a REM station, but does suffer from screeching trains on bends.

Indeed. After getting out of the driveway/building and onto the road/pathways, it is self evident that the design should be about transportation; place making should be adjacent to the road.

Drive to, park once, do many things, lifestyle power centers deserve more love from urbanists.

However, they can be easily accessed by bike trail, tram, or light rapid transit to the centre thanks to thoughtful geometry.

Long answer because I researched retail trends and found many businesses curtailed in-person hours during Covid and never fully restored. In NYC in particular, many former 'until 4am' businesses now close at midnight.

Alas driverhru businesses are rarer in Canada; and driverhru pharmacies don't offer longer hours than their respective indoor Rx counter.

US Starbucks and fast food businesses offer drive-thru (not what you asked, I know)_ service (and offer remote web ordering with curb-side pickup, ie delivery to a cyclist or driver waiting at a numbered parking spot) for long hours including when indoor sales counter is closed.

Many close at midnight; the "open now" filter which indicates it's open at 9:32 pm on Sunday evening is encouraging but insufficient.

Within the store, some departments, e.g., the post office or pharmacy, may close earlier than the general merchandise area.

Great to see #REM Ouest DM route completed and in service, built quickly and relatively cheaply compared to my my familiar NYC MTA #SecondAveSubway and #GrandCentralMadison benchmarks of glacial and expensive transit project delivery.
