This #FossilFriday, I offer you a 50 million year old feather. I found this in the Green River Formation, while doing fieldwork for @johellawell.bsky.social's PhD back in 2006.

Enchanting photo from Perseverance on Mars, shows large rounded rocks piled in eroded bank in outflow to delta. Implies really voluminous flooding. These boulders were rounded by rushing water, transported to this pile, cemented & later excavated. What a world!
