A Star is Dissolving its Baby Planet Astronomers have found a young star bathing a planet in intense X-ray radiation, wearing it away at a rapid rate. The planet is Jupiter-sized and orbits its red dwarf star at a fifth the distance from...

What can a baby planet teach us about the #universe? At just 8 million years old, TOI 1227b is helping scientists uncover how planets form and evolve. The discovery was led by Attila Varga, a Ph.D. student in #astrophysical sciences and technology at #RIT.

Uranium enrichment: A chemist explains how the surprisingly common element is processed to power reactors and weapons Uranium enrichment concentrates one specific type of the atom to create a substance that can generate massive amounts of energy.

When most people hear “uranium,” they picture mushroom clouds, Cold War standoffs, or glowing green rods from sci-fi. But it’s also a common element with a major impact on energy, medicine, and geopolitics.

André Hudson, dean of #RIT’s College of Science, shares more in The Conversation.
