Ideas about this camouflaged guy? Can’t tell if it is a butterfly or moth. Couldn’t get a good picture - every time I got 5/6 ft away, it flew off. Kept landing on lichen though.

In chem class this week, I burned magnesium as a demo. I assisted small groups of students in burning the Mg themselves at the fume hood, while materials provided by #bwfcast allowed me to set up additional stations for the other students. Perfect set up for scientific inquiry!

My 11th grade students wanted to listen to Moana I soundtrack as they worked in chem class today. Seemed like a valid request. So we sang, and we scienced!

I’m a science teacher, and an amateur SciArtist. I love developing an Explorer’s Mindset and connecting science, nature, and art through: natural science illustration, nature journaling, etc, and in my classroom with curriculum development. #SciArt

My students love doing this! Have you ever tried borax crystals on nature objects? Pine cones, leaves, even rocks? We did that one year as an enrichment activity near Christmas time.

I’d love that! I’ve only been teaching chem for a few years, so I’m still learning about labs that we can do, and especially how to do them safely!
