ICYMI Another great piece by @pdforan.bsky.social in @gooseberrypielit.bsky.social. I don't know why I miss so many publications on social media these days, but I'm glad I found this! Lovely, musical language.

Johnny Depp just followed me. Why am I pretty sure that he isn't Johnny Depp, just as Elena Ferrante, who seemed very interested in my writing, wasn't Elena Ferrante? Life is full of small disappointments.

Whoa! A 7.1 earthquake where our son lives in Kota Kinabalu, Borneo (deep in the ocean, thankfully). A 6.75 earthquake in Mexico where we were on vacation with our son last month. I thought he was safe now that he's no longer in California. He's fine. No tsunami warnings or damage.

Woolf in 1902

by George Charles Beresford

Portrait of Virginia Woolf (January 25, 1882 – March 28, 1941), a British author and feminist, with her chignon.

A black and white portrait photograph of Virginia Woolf shown in soft three-quarter profile facing left. She has dark hair swept up and gathered into a low, loose chignon at the nape of her neck. Her features are delicate β€” a long, fine nose, deep-set eyes with a contemplative, faraway gaze, and a gentle mouth. She wears a light-colored blouse with a soft, slightly ruffled or gathered neckline.
