Anyway it was really something special, I loved it

The movie kind of works on three levels: the narrative film they’ve written and are shooting, the mildly prank show element as they interact with genuine passersby who aren’t in on it, and then the metafictional acknowledgment of THAT which almost makes the mockumentary format into its own making-of

A couple of them are pretty big Matt jokes but I like towards the end when Jay looks at the camera and goes “you guys know what I’m doing, right?” It’s a fun way to address the inherent difficulty of telling a story with two characters where one has to mislead the other but not the audience

There’s a couple times in Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie where they break the fourth wall a bit to like check in with you as an audience that I found really interesting and clever

Not a great endorsement that the conversation around Platner has gone from a more philosophical "what does it look like when a seemingly eager soldier/PMC takes up socialism" to "is this specific guy a closet antisemite or just extremely stupid"

I *think* it's some kind of catastrophic Bluetooth connection error triggered by some esoteric combination of application actions. Of course, now that I'm methodically trying to reproduce it on purpose, it won't happen at all. They're Logitech Astro A30s & the phone is an iPhone 13 running iOS 18.5

My pretty new, somewhat fancy headphones have this issue where they'll shut off suddenly and without notice (no power down noise). When I turn them back on, they boot up, reconnect to my phone, and then do it again, usually within about three seconds. Battery is fully charged.
