My take on the Jan 23 action in Minneapolis is that I don’t really care whether it’s a “true” general strike (we could argue about that all day).

What DOES matter is that it’s a bold and necessary escalation, and local labor leaders are publicly encouraging workers to join in anti-ICE resistance

Also, any Democrat who won’t get on board with abolishing ICE (as opposed to continually voting for increased funding and decreased accountability in some foolhardy courting of the xenophobe vote) needs to be driven not only from the party but ideally from politics and public life altogether.

I can’t help but wonder how many of the people who are (rightly) losing their shit at a jackbooted thug of the state murdering an innocent white woman in broad daylight spent 2020 tut-tutting their way through any discussion of police reform and accountability.
