I voted no on funding DHS—even for 10 days. While I voted two weeks ago for five appropriation bills to keep federal agencies operating through the remainder of the year, I cannot vote to fund ICE.

Kristi Noem needs to go home.

ICE’s abuses are happening every day because she allows them to. We’re demanding accountability, safeguards, and an end to this cruelty.

Impeach Noem. Stop funding abuse. Enough is enough.

After witnessing horrific human rights abuses inside ICE’s Baltimore facility, we’re demanding accountability. This is about democracy—not a paramilitary force answering only to Trump.

Today, I stood shoulder to shoulder with the Hispanic Caucus, Black Caucus, Women’s Caucus, New Dems, and Progressive Caucus—united in one message: Kristi Noem must be impeached.

What we do is who we are—and we have to stand up for our values.

There is no “law and order” in terrorizing pregnant women, abducting grandmothers seeking asylum, and abandoning kids in freezing temperatures.

This is Kristi Noem’s and Acting Director Lyons’ cruelty. And cruelty is who they are.

Women have always been at the heart of this work, leading with compassion and persistence, and turning challenges into progress for the next generation.

Honored to participate in a panel at the Montgomery County Women’s Legislative Briefing to talk about what advocacy looks like in action. Advocacy is about more than policy—it’s about people. It’s listening, showing up, and making sure our communities are supported and heard.

I was the only member of Congress allowed inside, and the viral video is real—ICE is holding people in a 12-hour Baltimore facility for days on end, without showers, adequate food, or basic human dignity.

This is unacceptable and un-American.

ICE’s plan to drop a 1,500-bed detention facility in my district—quietly bought, without community input.

Deputy Secretary Lyons called these facilities “Amazon Prime for human beings.”

That tells you everything. People are not packages —and I’m fighting this with Team Maryland. Full stop.

This is not who we are as Marylanders—or as Americans. I inspected ICE’s Baltimore facility to expose conditions that strip people of dignity, due process, and basic human rights.

I saw ICE’s Baltimore facility firsthand.

Detainees are being held for days in spaces designed for hours — raising serious concerns about overcrowding, food, water, and medical care.

Maryland deserves better. Human dignity is non-negotiable.

Today, I toured ICE’s Baltimore facility as part of my Congressional oversight.

What I saw—and remain concerned about—are people being held far beyond the 12-hour limit, overcrowded, and without basic necessities.

That is unacceptable. This is not who we are as Marylanders or as Americans.

Special congratulations to Jared and Aysia, the 2025 Maryland State Youth of the Year, for their commitment to leadership and for inspiring their peers.

I am proudly working to ensure that Boys & Girls Clubs can continue providing safe, supportive spaces where kids can learn, grow, and thrive as the next generation of leaders.

This morning, I had the honor of joining Governor Wes Moore, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, Timika Trasher, and leaders from across Maryland to celebrate the incredible impact that Boys & Girls Clubs have on our children.

Trump’s dangerous rhetoric puts all of us at risk—and his refusal to condemn political violence is shameful.

I witnessed her courage and conviction firsthand when we were together in Minnesota at a field hearing two weeks ago—and we will continue to stand up against this dangerous rhetoric.

We must honor that legacy this month and always.

As Muslim Heritage Month comes to a close, we reflect with gratitude and respect. Recognition matters. It’s a starting point for countering Islamophobia and acknowledging the deep, lasting contributions Muslim communities make to both the 6th district and our society.

We have now confirmed the facility ICE purchased in Washington County. ICE’s covert acquisition of a warehouse in historic Williamsport - carried out without transparency, community input, or accountability - is unacceptable.

This is exactly why I’ve been demanding a tour of ICE’s Baltimore facility since December. I intend to personally inspect the conditions and how people are being treated there. We will not stop pushing for accountability and answers until the truth is fully exposed and nothing is hidden.

Today, we commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day to honor the 6 million Jewish victims, and millions more, who were murdered for their identity and beliefs.

At a time of deep division, we must condemn all forms of hate and unify behind the words “Never Again.”

I’m proud of the work we’ve delivered - from securing funding for water and infrastructure projects, to supporting first responders and expanding access to healthcare. I will always keep listening, showing up and fighting for the communities that make Mountain Maryland so strong.

The resilience of the people in Allegany and Garrett counties is powerful. They are neighbors who keep showing up for one another even in the face of real challenges.

The Mountain Maryland PACE (Positive Action Changes Everything) conference is truly one of my favorite events of the year and spending time with the leaders of Mountain Maryland always reminds me why.
