Seems my last act as a 38 year old was to hit my funny bone on the bedside table. Hopefully 39 starts better than 38 ended.

I love the Olympics. Both summer and winter, and not just the events we are good at. Seeing the GB golds today has been great but I’ve also been loving the alpine skiing, long distance skiing, figure skating and speed skating.

I think she said it was blueberry. But felt more like blackberry. Definitely not plum. I have the plum in my Mrs Walewska cake and it wasn’t that.

I complain about this almost weekly.

I was all over the biceps, triceps, glutes and dick outline of Caleb. His bulge in the face off scene after he got hit by the weight at the start was very distracting.

It’s doing my head in! 🤣

It’s taking me away from enjoying the main guy’s bulge.

Remember when Disney+ relegated Love, Victor to Hulu because it wasn’t deemed appropriate for the streaming service despite it being so vanilla and the only thing that might be “controversial” about it was the same sex relationship? I’m so pleased Canadian streamers are less homophobic.

People need to stop being so reductionist, fetishising gay relationships and being disrespectful to the original author, show runner and incredibly talented cast.

I wish people would stop focussing on the sex and nudity in Heated Rivalry. Two reasons:
1. It’s not that gratuitous and it advances the story, a story that is incredibly thoughtfully written.
2. People make much less fuss when it’s straight sex on TV shows. GoT, Euphoria, Bridgerton, SatC, etc

Had a delicious dinner. Couple of random bags of leftovers out of the freezer with some freshly made Yorkshire puddings. Johnny described it as a “proper northern” meal! 🤣

But also, I’m not sure I will be recommending it as I don’t want to have conversations with colleagues after they watch it next weekend. 🤣

Back at work tomorrow and it’ll be the usual mundane “did you have a nice Christmas and NY?” conversations and you better believe every single one of them will be turned into me just gushing over Heated Rivalry.

I need good tv show and film recommendations. I’m fed up of shows that need a twist to try and stay interesting. Best shows of 2025 for me were:

Overcompensating
Boots
Heated Rivalry

I need more like that. Also, I can’t remember the last really great film I watched. Maybe ‘Spoiler Alert’.

Not even been a week since the Heated Rivalry season finale and I’m desperate to watch the whole thing again.

I can’t think of a better mini-series since Chernobyl.

Laughing at the ‘Empty Netters’ podcast. Normal episodes on YouTube have hundreds to low thousands of views. The Heated Rivalry episode reviews have hundreds of thousands. 🤣

I keep forgetting about this place. 2026 is going to be the year I start using it more.

Don’t claim to be a “dog friendly” holiday park and then charge £15 per dog, per night. That makes you either hostile to dog owners or just trying to exploit them. We have two dogs, what extra am I getting for £210 per week? They don’t clean during the stay.

The BBC has such warped views on what is and isn’t classed as impartiality. I think using tabloidesque language like “hike in National Insurance contributions” is fairly partial tbh. Obviously this is the tip of a much more significant iceberg including Gaza, Trans rights, etc.

He did explain at the start that he’s visiting the three Scandinavian countries and the wider Nordic region including Finland and Iceland but it does seem strange to call the series something when it’s about more than that. Like doing a series on all the Canary Islands and calling it “Tenerife”.

Just finished Andor. So good. Loved seeing characters from Rogue One popping up and got so excited at the end, knowing that he’s departing and heading straight to his Rogue One scenes. I thought the season overall was hard work in places but loved the overall arch.

They need to do something about the viewer vote. I’m not sure if the Israel vote is actually people doing it for a laugh, as a counter-protest or something more nefarious, like a state sponsored bot-vote or automated telephone banks. An app vote with biometric 2FA or something similar is needed.

Austria have won but I think the reputation is trash anyway.

We’ve already surpassed last year’s points total.

Considering she’s the actual professional TV presenter, she’s been the weak link tonight. The two from the semi finals have been so much better.
