As the keeper of memory for the nation, it is our privilege and responsibility to tell accurate and complete histories. As has been recently reported, in July, a placard was removed from the National Museum of American History’s exhibit "The American Presidency: A Glorious Burden." The intent of the Impeachment section of the exhibit is to reflect all impeachment proceedings in our nation’s history. The placard, which was meant to be a temporary addition to a twenty-five year-old exhibition, did not meet the museum’s standards in appearance, location, timeline and overall presentation. It was not consistent with other sections in the exhibit and moreover blocked the view of the objects inside its case. For these reasons, we removed the placard. We were not asked by any Administration or other government official to remove content from the exhibit. The section in question, Impeachment, will be updated in the coming weeks to reflect all impeachment proceedings in our nation’s history.

Well maybe all those strong opinions based on sketchy initial information were premature?

It doesn’t sit right with me that Publishers Marketplace is raising costs from $25 to $30 a month. It already is pretty inaccessible as a necessary site for many publishing professionals. Anyone not working in-house has to pay for services like this out of pocket.

I keep wondering if we as a society are ready to talk about men being touch-starved and sublimating that into an overwhelming thirst for sex, when what they really need is a good hug and other platonic physical affection.

We’re not, but someday I hope we do anyway.

I don’t think we know enough just yet to understand how this will affect NPR and PBS but both received a very small percentage of their budgets from the CPB. This will however have an immediate effect on local public radio and TV affiliates, esp in rural & Indigenous areas

Not that I'm a paragon of masculinity but I'm 40 and have spent years thinking really hard about being a dad and a man, I've done tons of therapy and have graduate training in gender studies/history, and I'm still learning new ways that I've been conditioned to be shitty. It goes deep.
