Though re-enactment simply cannot bring to life the true nature of medieval combat, by jove increasing that experience from 0.001% to 0.1% by dumping 60 enthusiasts into a castle hall made it feel gritty as hell. A fight and a half on our hands (a mix of kit as it was a national training event)
