Side view of a scenic base under construction on a 50mm oval base. A large piece of cork covers two thirds of the base with a large dried stick that looks like a fallen log glued to the back edge. The lowest level has a slate rock and a scattering of slate chips. There are more fine slate chips under the edge of the fallen log and the cork surface has been covered with sand. There is a small rock for the miniature to rest a paw on and another stick rests in the dry slate riverbed. It will be fixed in place after painting, which is when a leaf litter layer will be added to the sand.

I'm also tempted to get some water effects and make that dry slate riverbed a stream.
