Bigotry drastically lowers the bar on what would be considered a "valid reason"... and drastically increases the intensity of an "appropriate response."

It helps to remember that moral panics are about punishing others (usually marginalized groups), not protecting people.

You can't punish an AI, and those who should be punished are highly privileged rich people, so they're not a valid target.
