There is a notable history of people claiming they were treated poorly at STTC when they clearly were not there.

I’ve seen this at events like FanExpo as well, but it’s harder to disprove there because of the nature of the event.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I have fond memories of the influence that Toys had on me. But looking back, it seems like that dynamic was a historical exception, and not really the rule which feels like a shame, because it really instilled the sense of imagination in me.

NGL, I mentally disengage whenever someone says “This is the real Star Trek”. Doesn’t matter if it’s something I love, hate, or haven’t seen… if your best take is to assume you can add to the saga like it’s made of LEGO, we don’t need to talk.

I think you just need to, at least once, totally embrace a much-disliked entry to understand 1) how important constructive criticism is and 2) how much nuance is needed between declaring something objectively bad or simply unexpected.
