PM Tusk:

Some say that Ukraine should be grateful for everything.
The truth is exactly the opposite. The rest of us should be grateful to Ukraine.

Greetings from Kyiv and
a rare moment when lights are shining from everywhere.
As it should be.
Generators are resting.

Friday evening.

Sometimes I can’t even imagine how different our lives are – yours and mine.
Perhaps I’ve already forgotten.

Just ordered a book from my local Waterstones. Click and collect so I’ll get it on way home tonight. As cheap as Amazon. Also bought an instant camera earlier this week from Argos, cheaper than on Amazon. It’s proving very easy not to use the evil billionaire’s website. More of you should try it.

A humorous illustration titled "How Time Works" by Becky Barnicoat. The image depicts time as a roller coaster track with months labeled along the curve. The "You" is positioned at the start of the ride, near the bottom of the first steep drop, representing the experience of time speeding up as the year progresses.

A vibrant, composite portrait of the brilliant Iranian mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani (1977–2017), the first woman and first Iranian to win the Fields Medal. She is shown in a close-up head-and-shoulders view, facing the camera with a gentle, thoughtful expressionβ€”short brown hair, bright blue eyes, and a calm smile. She wears a navy blue fleece over a teal/green collared shirt. Overlaid transparently behind and around her is a dense blackboard filled with intricate handwritten mathematical equations in white chalk, featuring complex expressions involving binomial coefficients (e.g., n! / (k!(n-k)!)), factorials, summations, powers, and terms suggestive of hypergeometric series or combinatorial identities. The equations partially surround and frame her face, symbolizing her deep immersion in advanced mathematics, particularly in hyperbolic geometry, TeichmΓΌller theory, and dynamical systems, while evoking the creative, exploratory nature of her work as a Stanford professor and groundbreaking researcher.

My veg garden is also in year two of long covid rewilding, sadly there is nobody to take it over. I wish I'd moved tools and clutter out before it was effectively abandoned after the last time I cut back the raspberry canes - I had no idea disability was calling my name.
